We begin our Lenten journey March 6. Our Masses are 8:00am and 6:30pm at St. Mary.
We are in need of Liturgical Ministers for these Masses. A sign up is in St. Mary’s vestibule, or contact the Parish Office to volunteer. Thank you.
Are you hiding your musical talent that God has given you?
Our Parish is in need of additional organists, pianists and singers for our weekend Masses. Our High School students are also encouraged to consider being a musician or singer at our liturgies. Please contact Celeste Muehlenthaler if interested, email or 515-577-9394.
The Eucharistic Minister is a lay person authorized to administer the Consecrated bread and wine during Mass. A Eucharistic Visitor is a lay person authorized to take the Consecrated bread and wine after Mass to members of the Parish who, by reason of illness or infirmity, were unable to be present at Mass. Both of these Ministries are under the direction of Deacon Mr. Terry Schleisman. Parishioners who are interested in becoming a Eucharistic Minister or Visitor, please contact Deacon Terry Schleisman, 515-669-6158 / email.
“It is praiseworthy for the bread and wine to be presented by the faithful.” (General Instruction of the Roman Missal). Our present practice is to have the ushers bring the gifts forward; we would like to have other parishioners, families or individuals, bring the gifts forward at Mass. If you would like to volunteer, please contact the Parish Office, 515-367-2685 / firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Lector proclaims the Good News from the sacred text. However, all Christians are, by definition, proclaimers of the good news. Some among us are called to minister the Word directly, to ensure that the faithful, as well as those who are not yet faith-filled, will continue to hear God's love spoken anew each time the sacred book is opened. These special people are called Lectors.
Qualities of a Lector:
◦Ability to stand in front of people and be comfortable
◦Excellent reading and enunciation skills
◦Strong love of our Lord and for the Scriptures
◦Willingness to reflect upon and practice each reading
◦Desire to share the Word of God with our Community
All parishioners who have received the Sacrament of Confirmation may become a Lector. If you are interested in becoming a Lector, please contact Deacon Terry, email@example.com.
Usher - Greeter
The Usher is a parishioner with a willingness to serve effectively in the welcoming ministry of the congregation. If you are interested in becoming an Usher or Greeter, please contact Deacon Terry, firstname.lastname@example.org.
The primary purpose of our St. Mary-Holy Cross Music Ministry is to bring people closer to God through music. Our focus is to enhance congregational singing, thereby uniting us as one through sung prayer. Through a cooperative spirit and a willingness to learn, our singers and instrumentalists strive for quality in order to bring themselves and our community to a closer union with God.
Choir: St. Mary-Holy Cross choir is composed of Parish members who show a talent and/or interest in sung prayer.
Cantor: A cantor is a Parish member who leads the responsorial psalm and acclamations and sings other songs with the congregation during one of our weekend Masses.
Instrumentalists: Keyboardists, pianists, organists, woodwind players, percussionists and guitarists are among our instrumental players. They provide their own type of prayer through instrumental arrangements of musical works.
Please contact Celeste Muehlenthaler if interested in participating in our Music Ministry, 515-577-9394 / email.
