October 9:
This past week the channel/steel beam arrived, thus allowing us to continue
the
progress of construction. Workers have begun to open the wall in the current
lower-level of the church
to allow access into the new north annex. By Monday,
October 17 the hole should be created, with footings
reinforce and steel beams
in place.
The parking lot, which had been previously torn up for the placement of the new
water line,
is now a poured concrete finish. NO more do you have to watch our
for the mighty big first step.
In the upcoming four weeks, the following portions of the project will begin:
Steps
from new lower level to the current lower level poured
Slab
grade on the lower level poured
Stud-in
the north wall of new addition
2nd
floor slab poured
Trusses
set
Sheathing and
shingling of roof
Please continue to pray for the safety of our
construction workers, and that old man winter
does not come early this year.
Work October 2: In
the past couple of weeks, there does not appear to be much work
accomplished on
the new addition. Currently we are awaiting the arrival of a channel or support
beam
that will be used in the opening of the lower level. The channel had to be
redesigned and is being
manufactured in Northern Iowa. We cannot grade or
concrete the new addition’s lower level until the
beam arrives. We are
expecting the beam to arrive either late in the week of September 25 or early
this
upcoming week.
In addition, this past week we were hoping to have had the parking lot area that
has been torn up to have
a new surface. However the rains came upon us, causing
us to delay that work until early this upcoming week.
A group of parishioners on the building committee have numerous meetings
regarding carpet, tile, and paint.
A decision has been reached regarding each
of those items. We are very excited to have the speed of
construction increase
within the next week. Thank you for your patience during this time.
