LAY EUCHARISTIC MINISTER
The Eucharistic Minister is a lay person authorized to administer the Consecrated Elements at a Celebration of Holy Eucharist. A Eucharistic Minister would perform their ministry under the direction of Father Dan Krettek or Deacon Rev. Mr. Jerry Barnwell.
A Eucharistic Visitor is a lay person authorized to take the
Consecrated Elements following a Celebration of Holy Eucharist to members of the
congregation who, by reason of illness or infirmity, were unable to be present
at the Celebration. A Eucharistic Visitor would also exercise that ministry
under the direction and discretion of Father Dan Krettek or Deacon Rev. Mr. Jerry
Barnwell.
Parishioners who are interested in becoming a Eucharistic
Minister or Visitor, please contact the Parish Office.
LECTOR
The Lector proclaims the good news from the sacred text. However, all Christians are, by definition, proclaimers of the good news. Some among us are called to minister the Word directly, to ensure that the faithful, as well as those who are not yet faith-filled, will continue to hear God's love spoken anew each time the sacred book is opened. These special people are called Lectors.
All parishioners who have graduated Eighth Grade and have received the Sacrament of Confirmation may become a Lector. If you are interested in becoming a Lector, please contact the Parish Office.
USHER - GREETER
The Usher is a parishioner with a willingness to learn and to serve effectively in the welcoming ministry of the congregation. If you are interested in becoming an Usher or Greeter, please contact the Parish Office.
SPONSOR of SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
St. Mary-Holy Cross Parish supports a number of social activities such as: Soup Suppers each Friday during the Lenten Season, after the Stations of the Cross; Wine and Cheese after Mass, the first Saturday evening Mass of each month at St. Mary's; Coffee and Donuts, the first Sunday morning Mass of each month at St. Mary's; and Coffee and Donuts, the last Sunday morning Mass of each month at Holy Cross. The social activities are sponsored by parishioners who prepare and serve items supplied by the Parish.
If you are interested in being a sponsor, please contact the Parish Office.
HOSPITALIZATION
Please contact the Parish Office if a family member is hospitalized and you wish to have a pastoral visit.
The primary purpose of our St. Mary-Holy Cross musicians is
to bring people closer to God through music. Our focus is to enhance
congregational singing, thereby uniting us as one through sung prayer. Through a
cooperative spirit and a willingness to learn, our singers and instrumentalists
strive for quality in order to bring themselves and our community to a closer
union with God.
Choir
The St. Mary-Holy Cross choir is composed of registered Parish members
who show a talent and/or interest in sung prayer.
Cantor
The cantor is a Parish member/s who lead the responsorial psalms and
acclamations. Alone, they provide music at one of our weekend
Masses each
week.
Instrumentalists
Keyboardists, pianists, organists, woodwind players, percussionists and
guitarists are among our instrumental players. They provide their own type
of prayer through instrumental arrangements of musical works.
